It’s official! NAMAC has changed its name to the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission, or AAC. However, while our name has changed, our organization, Board of Directors, mission, and goals remain the same. NAMAC was conceived in NAMA and, after many years of planning, finally launched as a separate organization in August 2021. As our organization gains recognition within our professional community, we understand that our name has often been confused with NAMA’s. The time has come to rebrand and create a new identity so that all stakeholders are clear about the work we do. As with any health profession, it is important that each of the three pillars to support professionals and provide consumer safety are strong, independent bodies. In US-based Ayurvedic medicine, these pillars are: accreditation of educational programs; certification of individuals’ competency to practice; and professional membership organizations to support and help grow the profession. It is also important that all of these organizations are seen as fully autonomous. This is especially true of the accreditation commission. Our long-term goal to be federally recognized by the US Department of Education requires that we demonstrate our viability as an independent organization, free from any conflicts of interest. The ink is not quite dry on our new logo, so stay tuned in the coming weeks for a new look on our website, new program logos, and updates on all of our public documents and communications. We are excited about this next step moving us forward in collaboration with our schools and programs. With best wishes,
